About & History

Lynwood Country Club is a club with a history that can be traced back as far as the early 1960’s. Since this time it has gone through a number of name changes, relocations and restaffing. With all the changes that have taken place over the years one thing has remained constant; the desire and drive to create a club that works towards the future to better itself for its members and guests.

Most tees and greens are visible from the present colonial style clubhouse verandah with sweeping panoramic views to the Blue Mountains as a backdrop. The course boasts a truly magnificent Driving Range, a Practice Green and Short Game Range incorporating Greens and Bunker facilities.

As far as it can be ascertained the Golf Club commenced in about 1963. There were numerous problems in keeping the Club up and running with a shortage of money and lack of members.

The following dates are important and will give you some idea of the many name changes that have taken place from 1963 to 2008.

Lynwood Country Club is situated at Pitt Town which is one of the 5 historic towns established by Governor Macquarie in 1810. It is located about 50 km north-west of Sydney. Lynwood takes its name from historic Lynwood House, a colonial-style house built circa 1814 and located on the course property.

The 18-hole Golf course is set on 230 acres and was completed in 2010, meandering through natural wetlands. It was designed by Graham Papworth, former President of the Australian Golf Course Architects Association. The links style 6400 metres, 72 par layout is of couch fairways that take advantage of many natural features, including undulations, wetlands and natural rough.

In December 2014, Lynwood became a part of CHRG (Castle Hill RSL Group).

The new combined entity would have a more dominant position in the Hills/Hawkesbury area providing the ensured viability and long term future of clubs in these areas, plus the strengthening of Sport within the Community which is something CHRG (Castle Hill RSL Group) is very supportive of and manages well.

CHRG (Castle Hill RSL Group) consists of the parent entity the Castle Hill RSL Club, Castle Hill Bowling Club, Castle Hill Fitness and Aquatic Centre and the Club Parramatta.

The Group provides facilities, products, services and relationships, which will add value to club members and community. Lynwood will ideally over time be recognised as a vibrant, exciting, entertainment and sporting precinct and the central hub of our community relevant to all age groups and demographics operating in a profitable, efficient and effective manner.

The Lynwood team is always focused on ways in which we can better the club for you, the user. We encourage and appreciate our members and our guests’ feedback, thoughts and comments, so please do not hesitate to approach any Lynwood staff member.
